Layla was one of the more recently Claimed, one of the few claimed past the age of thirteen - when Percy demanded the gods all swear on the river of Styx to claim their kids at or before the age of thirteen, those who were already older than that 'happened' to be passed over by any promise. Still, most gods and goddesses had no need to use a petty method such as that to keep unclaimed kids, and claimed even the older ones. Layla was not one of those - while she entered the camp at the age of fourteen, it took until she was sixteen for her mother to claim her. She'd read about her mother now, and much of it was... quite illuminating - apparently the goddess had been 'away' for quite some time, completely missing the war with the Titans, taking no side during it. Why her mother was away was a mystery to Layla - she'd never spoken to the woman who Claimed to be her mother about that, nor about why she'd not been claimed.
Being Claimed was apparently the first time the Goddess had contacted anyone in many, many years, so the request that a cabin be built for her child was a surprise - they had of course fully intended to create one for her, eventually, but minor gods with known and claimed children were much more of a priority, with minor deities who had no children but were actively around and wished for representation being secondary, and minor deities who were around but didn't care for a cabin were a tertiary concern. A goddess like Cybele was in for a long wait, had she not suddenly had a child claimed, and personally come to visit the camp. Layla, present and being pampered by her 'mother' during the discussion of wishing for a cabin, was fully prepared to spend a year or more still with the Hermes, while her cabin was built.
Luckily or unluckily however, Cybele was a fertility goddess who, depending on the stories, either rivaled or was a consort of Demeter, and who had a mastery over all living creatures, animal or plant, and saw no reason to not make use of her powers in a gaudy fashion - a beautiful goddess said to be as vain as Aphrodite herself had every right to be. Just a wave of her hand caused roses to sprout in a large square-ish shape. These bushes then grew... and grew, and grew, until they were fifteen feet in the air. Every branch and every spot of them began to bloom, bright reds, yellows, oranges, corals, even unnatural colors such as blues and vibrant purples. The large 'cabin' looked as if it was entirely formed out of flowers. Inside, the floors were already being made, shaped solid wood. Layla could not believe what she was watching, though she was acutely aware of the glare being given to her by Mr. D as her mother worked.
She couldn't help but stare as the 'cabin' was finished, overhangs of lilies of the valley draping the doorway like beads in a hippy's house. She stepped inside, onto the wooden floor, only to find it completely empty - part of that surprising her after seeing the intense display of godly might. The brief argument that she could barely hear from inside made it clear that her mother was arguing that as a goddess of alcohol and parties, she should be allowed to create an endless fountain of alcohol for her daughter, much to Mr. D and Chiron's displeasure. Finally agreeing to the idea that she'd be allowed to represent her 'other' aspects, but not the alcoholic one, Layla could overhear her mother informing them that her daughter's furniture would be by later that day.
The goddess of excesses certainly provided - large comfortable pillows dotted the floors, leading up to an extremely large bed draped in deep red. The entire room smelled like incense and roses, large mirrors dotting the 'walls' of roses at multiple points. Large ornate dressers of the finest make, and fancy carpets that looked extremely expensive. Rather than any tables or anywhere to sit, a large circle of pillows built for people to sit on sat in one corner, surrounding a large hookah pipe she'd managed to convince the counselors to allow. A single rack of weapons sat next to the front door, the normal standard fare for the camp, more of an afterthought than anything. Layla was more than amazed as she walked along the pillows and sat on the bed, practically melting into them all - easily the most comfortable things she had ever touched. She could understand why her mother loved having such an excessive lifestyle now, if it meant life was like this.
And thus the Cabin of the Great Mother Cybele was made, with its single occupant inside the room that could easily hold thirty or more.
