Connor had asked her out! She'd told practically everyone she knew at Camp about a dozen times. Kevin had been happy for her, the quiet happy where he smiled brightly at her and insisted on listening to everything she had to say. He'd heard her giggle and shriek in joy multiple times. Percy had probably heard about it the most, considering they shared their cabin together. He'd had to deal with her going through her clothing and putting together several outfits. She'd covered her bed in possible outfits and promptly moved to laying out more outfits on his bed since he couldn't have expected her to lay her clothes on the ground. She'd asked if he minded but hadn't entirely paid attention to his response.
Nicholas had offered to help her and she'd gladly accepted. He'd actually been impressed with the outfits she'd managed to put together and had picked one out that he said looked adorable on her and he said he was certain any boy that wasn't gay would find her hot. She sat on her bed and let Nicholas do her makeup. She had naturally straight hair that she loved to make wavy and this time she let Nicholas wave it. She felt like she was being pampered and she loved it. While the Stolls weren't Nicholas' favorite people at camp, he didn't seem to mind talking to her about Connor, gossiping and wondering what the son of Hermes had planned for their date.
With butterflies fluttering around in her stomach, she was sent out to Fireworks Beach by Nicholas, who she heard mumble something about doing makeovers for money. She skipped and twirled, happiness lighting up her face. She'd been considering asking Connor out, or using Kevin, who was dating Travis, to find out if Connor liked her the way she liked him. After all, the girl didn't have to wait for the boy to ask her out. It was just a much better feeling being chased rather than being the one doing the chasing. When he'd asked her out, she doubted she could have said yes faster. After he left, she had rolled around in her bed, clutching onto her favorite dolphin plushy and squealing. She was fairly certain that Percy hadn't gotten any good sleep that night because of her.
She froze when she came to the edge of the beach. She could see Connor sitting on the sand. Her stomach twisted and she felt her heart clench in her chest. But it wasn't a nauseating feeling that it brought. She strangely enjoyed it. Clasping her hands behind her back, she walked over to him. She looked down at him and smiled.
"That seat taken?" she asked, pointing to the spot next to him, though she knew it wasn't taken. She shyly brushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear. No matter how this date went, she was sure she'd drag Nicholas into Kevin's cabin and tell the two boys everything that happened. Every girl needed a gay boyfriend, she thought, and she had two. But she didn't think the date was going to go horribly. She had a feeling that it was going to be great and the first of many to come.
