Rarely did the god of mischief ever get serious. It wasn’t in his nature. But this was different. This was about his children. Yes, he caused chaos that would affect his children in one way or another, there was no stopping it. If the other gods or even the demigods found out that he was the one trying to start a war between the pantheons, well he doubted they’d treat his children very nicely. But anyone who tried to harm his children wouldn’t be left living for long.
He wore the same outfit he did when he first met Evan. His sunglasses covered his eyes as he stood in a secluded part of the forest, his arms draped across his chest. He had planted the idea into the three demigods’ heads to come to this exact area. They wouldn’t know why, but they would come here at the exact time that he wanted to. He wasn’t without some magic, after all. Lying wasn’t his only strength.
He wasn’t planning on officially claiming Evan, though there was a high chance that his youngest son would figure out who he was. If he officially claimed Evan – considering it was getting close to when he planned to make some big moves – then he was risking putting the boy through hell. Not that he didn’t already plan on unleashing hell on the demigod camps and their immortal parents.
For now, though, he planned on playing it off as if he wasn’t behind all of this. He’d act like a concerned parent – after all the Norse gods were known to be more active in their children’s lives than other pantheons. And if they figured it out – they had his genes, so naturally they were geniuses in his opinion – then he wasn’t above threatening his own children. And he knew exactly how to get to them. He didn’t want to make them afraid of him, but he would if he had to.
Would they end up hating them after all was done? He knew the war wouldn’t last forever after he got it started. It would either die off when the demigods did or stop if they all miraculously came to their senses. He figured the first was more likely to happen than the latter. And he doubted that he could keep his hand in this hidden forever. If caught, he’d be punished for eternities – that was if the All Father and his lackeys cared as much for the demigods as they claimed to. He could easily trick the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians and get away with it. It was his fellow Norse immortals who had become almost used to his tricks.
He looked up and allowed his arms to fall at his sides at the sound of approaching footsteps. His hand instinctively went to the hilt of his sword, unsure if someone would have followed his children. He relaxed when he didn’t sense any other presence but theirs. “Glad to see you all got my message,” he said, flashing a grin and releasing his grip on his sword.
