He didn’t like the dragons and they didn’t like him. Perhaps the mythical creatures sensed trouble and snarled at him to try to get him to leave the camp. Either way it never worked. As he entered the stables, he was growled and snarled at. One adult male tried to bite him and got promptly smacked on the nose by the butt of his sword. He sheathed the weapon, hanging it loosely from his belt. He didn’t have any particular weapon that he preferred. He had mastered many weapons – why pick just one?
Loki always came to Camp Midgard with a purpose. Usually it was to check up on Rosalia or Robin, his two eldest demigod children. But occasionally, like today, he came to check up on someone else. Evan was his youngest son and unclaimed. He had chosen not to claim him yet because he knew that his children weren’t always treated properly by their fellow campers. He was usually one to claim his children once they showed that they were able to protect themselves. He may have been an asshole, but no one could say that he didn’t care.
“He’s beautiful,” he commented as he came up behind Evan and nodded toward the dragon. He could have disguised himself, but he didn’t. Not everyone knew what he looked like.
“You’re dedication to him shows.” He didn’t even try to hide the bit of pride that was in his voice. When his children showed strength in anything, no matter what it was, he was proud. Any strength was better than no strength in his opinion. Even if it was caring for another that his son seemed to be strong in.
He didn’t pay much attention to the dragon, doubting that it liked him. He instead looked down at Evan, noticing the armor he wore. Was he going flying soon? The sky wasn’t his zone, and thus he didn’t like his children being off the ground, but he dealt with it so long as they stayed close to Camp Midgard. If they wandered too far, he knew that there was a chance Zeus or Jupiter would try to strike them down.
It was when he worried over his children that his more motherly rather than fatherly side showed. He had never had any preference when it came to his sexual partners and wasn’t ashamed to shift into a female body – so long as it was human. That was how he ended up being Robin’s mother, rather than father.
“I’m sorry, I don’t think I caught your name,” he said, his tone suggesting that he had already introduced himself to Evan – which he hadn’t. And he knew who Evan was, but he wanted to see if when the boy introduced himself, he would mention his lack of a known godly parent. Yes, he usually waited to claim his children, but he didn’t like hurting them. His children and wife were the only people he didn’t want to intentionally or even unintentionally hurt.
