I definitely think that some Jarvis interaction is needed. I’ve got a few threads I need to attend to, but once those have been tended, shall we?
Calum is (PC, anyways) currently the best strategist at Camp Isis, being the son of the war god. If nothing else, with a war on the horizon, they’ll spend a lot of time together. Also, I had planned to offer Calum as the second Pharoah’s Hound, so they would see a lot of each other, anyways. Perhaps sparring partners?
Yes. Yes, a thousand times, yes. Alistair and Clarisse would be the two most evenly matched sparring partners in Camp Half Blood, but they turn malicious quickly, even if they didn’t intend to. The last time they tried sparring, Zeus cabin and Ares cabin got cursed by Apollo cabin in retaliation for the massive healing they required once they were done using each other as chew toys.
Alistair tries to ignore his sister as often as possible, and puppy-love suitors to boot. He dislikes most of Apollo cabin, even though they were the ones to teach him how to use a bow. Privately, Alistair has earmarked Toby as the death that will shake Apollo badly enough to dethrone him.
Oh My Deities. If Clarisse doesn’t kill him, I would SO want him to go this way! Not necessarily from the duel itself – it could be after the war, from injuries sustained here. Yes. Oh. My Deities. Yes.
Nico is classified as ‘probably an ally that would like to see Olympus fall, but Mary Mother of God, he scares me’.
Of Aphrodite cabin, Nick is Alistair’s favorite. I have a headcanon that these two dated for a hot minute, last year, because Nick is hot, Alistair doesn’t have a gender preference, and why not? They broke up because Alistair discovered that he honestly didn’t have a strong attraction, sexually, at least, and he didn’t want to tie Nick down like that. They’re still good friends, and people who watch them interact might claim they’re still dating. Nicholas Collins is one of the few people Alistair loves at Camp Half Blood.
Snark off. Zachary is probably the first person to have called Phillip by the moniker of ‘Robin’, way back when. Robin and Zach communicate with snark and jokes, and Robin thinks he’s good for his half-sister.
Cassie is one of Robin’s favorite sparring partners. They trade techniques, practicing something new on each other enough for each to master it. Easy to give constructive critique, Robin sometimes illuses himself as an older Jarvis to calm his anxious friend. (Both parties would know about this, but Caspian would allow it because it really does work?)
Robin likes to put on a front for the world that he is a light-hearted and not-serious sort of dude. Summer is a little bit of a perpetuation of that idea, but he genuinely enjoys her company. Her natural state of being is what he aspires to present to the world.
Riley Davis is Robin’s best girl. He has no idea what happened with her brother. Justin annoys the bejeebers out of Robin, which is partly the whole parentage thing, and partly Justin’s need to be so macho – treating him like a little brother,
really – just because he’s an Aesir. He was much less insufferable before he became big and important.
They are friends because Elaine likes horses, and Zoey can talk to them. Elaine once took Zoey on an unauthorized field trip to explain to a wounded horse that she had to cause him a little bit of pain in order to allow him to heal properly. If Elaine is at the stables, she’ll look for Zoey.
Rivals. Unspoken, but whenever the two factions of Hunters interact, Elaine tries to out perform Ariel, and vice versa.
Elaine doesn’t often take on students, particularly not male ones. Toby’s appearance actually makes Elaine rather uncomfortable, and if she’s not careful, her mind will spin back decades and blood. However, if there are other archers in the field, and she doesn’t have to touch him, they might practice their bows together. She barks corrections to his stance and arms, and at the end of the session, might reward him with a terse word of praise.
Laura knows
of Ariel, but if they’ve met, it’s slipped her mind. She knows Ariel has…blonde hair. And isn’t always around. But if she remembers that she’s also a child of Vulcan, or that her name is Ariel, it’s probably a fluke.
Laura is very correct with Kyle, always calling him Praetor or sir. She feels safe around him, which is rare for her. Remember that she came off the streets – Kyle doesn’t overstep the boundaries of propriety for any reason, and always manages to teach her something new about herself whenever they spar. She made him something or other, either a weapon or a small automaton, for Christmas when she was twelve, because that’s what someone does for parent figures.
Laura has the teensiest inkling of a crush on Erin. Usually, she’s too far buried in calculations, math and equations, or she can’t hear a thing over the sounds of the forge where she builds her creations. However, she remembers one particular day when the math refused to work properly, fighting her every step of the way until she was almost in tears. Erin walked up to her in the mess hall, and read a very awkwardly phrased, but beautiful poem to her. It cheered her, and the next time she tried her equations, they worked perfectly. She likes working with him nearby, humming, and considers him her human muse.
Laura has a rather poor background with Lucas. He tried to pull a prank on her when she was freshly arrived to New Rome, when she was newly armed with too long on the street in her mind. She almost killed him, and might have, if a matron hadn’t pulled him away before her little knife hit him. Laura dislikes this light-hearted legacy of Mercury.
Truth be told, I really hate how Percy treats Blackjack in the books. I’d like for Blackjack to spend time with this other child of Poseidon, and perhaps prompt a discussion with the Boss about proper horse maintenance?
Anthony would be one of Naomi’s closer friends. Still distant, but Anthony would know why Ma’at’s child took a vow of chastity and celibacy, would know his preferred pronouns, and if he were in serious trouble, Anthony is who he would go to. He likes to drift through important meetings, bringing Anthony’s favorite cookie, because it amuses him.
Toni definitely has a soft spot for most of her siblings, but Toby I see as the one sibling who insists on calling her by her full name of ‘Antonia’ to get a rise out of her. Ordinarily, she suppresses her response, but every once in a while, they get into a nasty fight, the kind siblings have. They might send time sending messages through their siblings, if they acknowledge each other’s presence at all, but in the end, Toni will always come through for the children of Apollo.
Toni likes to submit herself as a living Barbie, letting Nicky doll her up and make her over as many times as he wants. They’re likely to get caught out after curfew, and when they aren’t at Camp Half Blood, these two will take over the nearest shopping mall with Daddy Brannon’s credit card and a concealed blade made of celestial bronze.
If I were to kill Toni off, it would be in defense of Erin. She’s naturally protective of her younger siblings, and the concept of war touching the vulnerability of a young healer makes her want to shake Olympus, and yell at her father.
