It was a raining cats and dogs when Eleanor finally called an end to training for the day. Despite the dark clouds blocking out the sun, threatening rain and lightning, Eleanor had continued on with the strict training regime. It was a schedule that she had implemented years ago and barely seldom deviated from. The training usually began at four in the morning, usually before the sun even rose. Depending on the experience of the camper, they would run around the camp several times. Then get right into cardio training for several hours then specified training. It rotated from week to week between hand-to-hand combat, to weapons, to navel combat, to hunting, and several other subjects. Today had been hand combat, a personal favourite of Eleanor's. There was just something about using your own body as a weapon that greatly appealed to her. Eleanor commonly trained with the younger campers while the Staff handled the older kids, who were more of a challenge to teach.
When the campers woke up to the usual horn blast of an alarm clock and they all caught sight of the cloud covered sky, everyone couldn't help but groan in disappointment. Eleanor's training happened rain or shine and today just so happened to be rain. So the female Aesir put everyone through their paces as water practically poured from the sky in a steady torrent. Several hours later, the rain continued to pour but now the campers quickly scampered back to their bunkers for some well deserved break and food. Eleanor herself stayed behind in the training area to clean up the equipment. As she bend down to pick up some punching bags, she cringed at the stress the motion put on her aching arms. She hissed in pain and quickly straightened back up and looked down at her arms. Her entire right forearm was covered in bruises and her shoulder was in no better condition. Earlier one of the older campers threw her down on the ground and she hadn't landed properly. Eleanor lay on the ground for a minute just gasping for breath before pushing herself to her feet and throwing herself back into the fight.
Finishing putting away the equipment with a click of finality from the equipment shed, Eleanor unwound the tape around her hands and walked absently towards the rainbow bridge. She paid no mind to the rain as she stepped out onto the bridge and wandered down it. She didn't feel like returning to her bunker just yet. She wanted to have a little moment of peace before she went back to her thoughts of war and the impending peace talks. Eleanor wasn't sure what made her more uneasy, war or peace.
