Kyle had called this meeting because he felt that it needed to be done. They needed to address the other camps instead of continuing on with their lives as if two threats weren’t looming over their heads. Yes, he considered the Norse and the Greeks to be threats. He didn’t care about a past civil war between the Romans and Greeks. The past didn’t affect him. His hostility toward even the subject of mainly the Greeks came from the fact that he felt threatened by them. He didn’t know why he felt more threatened by the Greeks than the Norse, but he did.
He had arrived into the room an hour before he expected anyone else to. He ran over specific topics he felt he needed to address in his head countless times. And before anyone arrived, he said a prayer to his father out-loud, knowing that it wouldn’t hurt. Unlike his brother, he had full faith in the Olympians. He knew that they made mistakes, but didn’t everyone? No one was perfect, not even the gods – even if they maybe thought they were perfect.
He stood at the head of the table with his arms placed behind his back, standing straight as each demigod arrived. When he caught sight of his brother, he instantly sent him a look that read sit down and shut up – even if Flynn hadn’t been talking in the first place. If anyone stood, he gestured for them to sit down. Though he was the youngest of the Praetor brothers, he planned to be in control at the meeting. The gods knew that he could lose his temper, especially when in an argument with his brother.
When he felt that everyone who was going to arrive had arrived, he didn’t cut corners, he got straight to the point. He felt it was better to be blunt than sugar coat anything. “Thank you for coming,” he said out of habit despite having not given anyone any real choice in the matter. It had been either show up or clean the entire camp for a month. Yeah, he wasn’t the ‘fun’ Praetor. “We’re here to discuss the elephant in the room that the entire camp feels.” He hadn’t kept the Greeks a secret from his fellow legionnaires and somehow they had found out about the Norse.
He glanced to Julius, silently hoping that if there was anything in the auguries that he would make it known. His eyes moved to meet with Branwen and for a split second, a smile teased at his lips before he pulled his eyes away and looked at the other Centurions. Eventually, he looked his brother straight in the eye. He loved Flynn dearly and enjoyed having a full-blood relative at the camp. However he didn’t approve of the negative relationship his brother had with the gods. He would have preferred if Flynn got along with the gods like he did.
“I think we can talk to the Norse, reason with them,” he continued when he looked away from Flynn. He bent forward slightly and placed his hands, palms down, on the table. “We can explain to them that we don’t want a war and if a war does come up, we want to be on their side.” He chose his words carefully. He figured saying they wanted to side with the Norse would be better than telling the Norse they wanted the Norse to side with them. He didn’t mention the Greek. Not yet. He felt that that topic would be better addressed later.
He turned to Hunter and Branwen. “However we should still be prepared in case one of the camps strike out against us,” he explained, nodding to them. “I think you two should be in charge of training, especially with the newer and younger recruits.” He glanced to his brother as if daring him to object. He didn’t want to come off as a brat, but he usually did when he was taking charge. He knew he shared the title of Praetor with his brother, but often in meetings, he had a habit of taking control and appearing like the only leader the camp had.
