This meeting was long over-due, she knew that as she entered the Big House. Who had called it, she wasn’t sure. It hadn’t been her, though she felt as if she should have been the one to call it. She was the daughter of the god of war, after all, and she got the vibe that this was similar to a war council. As she stepped into the Big House and made her way to the meeting, she felt a weight on her shoulders. It was a weight she hadn’t felt since they defeated the Titans. There was a knot in her stomach as if she was already dreading future events that seemed undeniable. She felt as if a war was coming.
Clarisse entered the room and took a seat, glancing at the faces already there. Her hand unconsciously went to grip the hilt of her sheathed sword. She was always prepared for a battle. She couldn’t sit still, which came with being a demigod. But there was more to it. Most probably thought that she was itching to get into a fight, to have a war start. But part of being Ares’ daughter was that she knew war all too well. She knew the pain and suffering it brought and she knew it on a personal level. If another war started, she could lose more friends. She didn’t want to feel the loss of someone close to her ever again
There was a silence that annoyed the crap out of her. She felt as if she could slice through it with her sword. “Have we gained any new information on the Romans?” she asked, feeling the need to break the silence. The meeting had to get started eventually, after all. Her eyes locked with Nico’s and she wasn’t sure if he seemed to be hiding something or not. “Any news from the dead?” she asked bluntly before turning her gaze from him. The Romans were their main concern in her opinion, but they also had someone else to consider…
“And that other camp,” she added, sitting forward in her chair. “Egyptians, I believe. Do we know if they could be allies?” She paused before continuing. “Or does anyone think they’re going to be our enemies?” She didn’t know about the Norse. Only the Romans and Egyptians had stumbled upon the Norse. And the Egyptians didn’t share much, if any, information with them, which was to be expected.
