Justin climbed down the ladder leading to his bunker with his battleax hooked to his belt by a leather strap. The battleax was long, almost the entire length of his leg, and heavy. It had been a gift from his father that he had received on his first quest. It had also taken him a couple months to build up the strength to be able to simply hold the ax in his hands, let alone swing it and wield it.
It was somewhat early in the morning, the usual time he would get up and start getting things done. He stretched his arms out with a yawn as he looked up at his sister’s bunker. “Wakey wakey, Sleeping Beauty,” he called up to her. He heard a loud groan and looked over toward Zach’s bunker, feeling a pang of guilt when he realized he had probably woken up the fellow camper… again. It wasn’t his fault that Zach’s bunker was right near his and his sister’s, though. It was just his fault that he kept accidentally waking up Zach whenever he went to wake up his sister.
He looked up again at his sister’s bunker, growing impatient. “Riley, c’mon!” he called up, wincing as he felt something hit the back of his head. “Ow!” He rubbed the back of his head and looked down to see a pinecone on the ground right by his feet. He looked over his shoulder and sent a glare at Zach, who was glaring right back at him from the window of his own bunker. He could see the tiredness in the son of Baldr’s eyes.
“Sorry! I’ll be quiet,” he said, though there was a hint of irritation in his own voice. He watched Zach roll his eyes before the younger teenager disappeared inside his bunker, no doubt curling back onto his bed. He bent down and scooped up the pinecone, looking it over. A mischievous grin slipped onto his face and he drew his arm back. He loved his sister dearly and was protective over her, but nonetheless, he was the younger twin. And he occasionally acted like it.
He threw the pinecone up through the window of her bunker. He was tempted to shout incoming, but he knew that not only would it piss Zach off – if the pacifist was even capable of getting pissed off – but it would most likely cause a panic to spread through the camp. He didn’t want to cause that.
